What Is The Change Lab?

A community-powered civic lab for connection, learning, and action.

We’re building an online and in-person network to help people engage in civic life—with tools, events, and real-life meetups designed to strengthen community from the ground up.

Our Focus

  • Research & Strategy
We identify what drives social connection and participation—and turn insights into action.

  • Technology & Tools
We’re creating digital infrastructure for civic life: a smarter, searchable digital town square.

  • Programs & Events
From monthly meetups to learning opportunities, we make it easier to show up and get involved.

What We're Building (With You)

  • Digital Town Square
Local events, org directories, and real ways to plug in.

WHAT HOUSTON IS TELLING US.

According to the Connection Opportunity report by More in Common, 72% of Houstonians want to connect across lines of difference, but don’t know how. The Change Lab meets that need by moving people from curiosity to real-world connection and civic action — creating the structures that make engagement easier, more inviting, and more meaningful.

THE CHANGE LAB is a nonpartisan civic initiative working to build strong and resilient communities through research, strategy, technology, and programming. We focus on strengthening civic life, fostering connection across lines of difference, and equipping everyday people with the tools to participate in public life.
