MORE IN COMMON

More in Common is a nonprofit organization that publishes research, builds strategies, and works in partnership with leaders and organizations throughout the United States. We help these partners bring Americans together across differences to engage meaningfully in our civil and cultural life.

In addition to the US, More in Common has teams in France, Germany, Poland, the UK, and most recently Brazil.

Research

We see the world through a people-centered lens: an approach that builds on insights in social psychology and behavioral science to study not just what Americans think, but why. We have engaged more than sixty thousand Americans in surveys, conversations, focus groups and one-on-one interviews.

Approach

We aim to provide nuance in how we study politics by starting with Americans’ values and beliefs, surfacing their core beliefs along with traditional identity categories like party and race. Our research is grounded in what we identified as the ‘exhausted majority,’ Americans who do not feel their voices are heard in today’s political debates and who often feel left out or left behind. We also work closely with partner organizations, local communities, and a range of stakeholders to ground our research in the stories of Americans from across the country and of all backgrounds.
