Books Unbanned Library Card
Books Unbanned is a bold initiative by Brooklyn Public Library to counter censorship and increase access to diverse books for young readers. This program allows teens and young adults ages 13–21 anywhere in the United States to get a free digital library card—giving them access to a wide array of e-books and audiobooks, including many titles being challenged or banned across the country.
Houston Arts Alliance: Grant Opportunities
Grants offered through HAA provide essential funding that fuels Houston’s creative economy. These resources ensure equitable access to the arts and help preserve and uplift diverse cultural traditions. They also contribute to stronger community connections, economic development, and public access to meaningful cultural experiences.
Ever wonder if it’s time to step back in order to move forward?
In the hustle of civic service and nonprofit work, burnout is real. Sabbaticals and fellowships aren’t just about taking time off—they’re about resetting purpose, rediscovering creativity, and reimagining impact. These programs support the long arc of social change by creating space to step back, reflect, and re-engage with greater clarity.
The Houston Food Bank
The Houston Food Bank (HFB) is the largest food bank in the United States by volume, distributing nearly 150 million nutritious meals annually to neighbors across 18 counties in Southeast Texas. But HFB is more than a food distribution center—it’s a hub for innovation, equity, and systemic change.
With over 90% of its food rescued from retail and commercial partners, HFB’s model is rooted in sustainability. Its logistics are world-class, but its strategy is people-first: linking food security with deeper investments in dignity, policy change, and long-term community well-being.
MENTOR
MENTOR is the national voice of the youth mentoring movement. For over three decades, they’ve worked to close the mentoring gap by fueling quality, accessible mentoring relationships for young people across the U.S. MENTOR believes all youth should have access to the support and guidance that caring relationships provide—especially those facing systemic barriers.
